MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (Equipment Division)

Reporting to:
Engineering Manager (Equipment Division)

Scope:

The Equipment Division Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design and packaging of electronic and electro mechanical assemblies, using a variety of tools including the company’s 3D modeling package. The Mechanical Design Engineer has responsibility for the maintenance of the company’s product configuration system, BOMS, drafting and component data base. Responsibility of product design spans product inception to introduction to manufacture and lifetime product maintenance.

Main Duties:

• Electro mechanical design of new products in conjunction with TMD’s Equipment Engineering team, following TMD’s New Product Introduction procedures.
• Detail draughting and design of mechanical and electro mechanical components and assemblies to support new and existing product development and product improvement.
• Supporting Operational and Engineering department with change requests to improve productivity reduce costs etc.
• Support TMD’s continuous improvement activity.
• Support and encouragement of TMD’s Production Engineering team.
• Maintenance and support of existing products.
• Creation and maintenance of BOM structures to support new and existing products.
• Maintenance of TMD’s product configuration system.
• Support and maintenance of TMD’s 3D design system.
• To undertake any other task which may reasonably be requested.
• To comply with the Company Policy on Health & Safety.
  

Qualifications & Experience:
HNC Mechanical Engineering or other similar field
3D CAD
Thermal Analysis (Desirable)
Electronics engineering (Desirable)
Experience in Lean, SDRC ideas, Finite element analysis, MRP.

Desirable Experience:
Good communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to work under minimum supervision
